Book Review: Rescuing Phoenix by M.J. Byrne

This book ripped out my heart and stomped on it… then finally, so tenderly, put it back together again! Rescuing Phoenix is perhaps one of the most emotional books I have ever read!

If I am being honest, at first I really wasn’t sure if I was going to like the MMCs, they treated Phoenix so horribly in the beginning - I just wanted to smack them lol. BUT the character growth was incredible! The author did an amazing job not only making the MMCs lovable but also addressing such dark and heavy topics. With that being said, please make sure you check the trigger warnings before diving in!

My heart broke for all four main characters throughout the book, especially for Phoenix! I loved her right from the start, and by the end of the book, I loved Zephyr, Kage and Parker just as much! They grovelled HARD (which was definitely needed!) and, again, their character growth was so wonderfully written. All four main characters are so complex, each with their own battles and struggles to overcome, and the support they shared for one another as they healed was beautiful.

The pacing of the relationship development was done so well! It felt natural and organic, and with everything that went down in this book, I appreciated this. Despite it being a fictional story, it felt raw and real.

This is one of those books that kept me up until the early hours of the morning. The plot kept me turning the pages for hours, desperate to find out what happened next.

How a book can be sad, healing and deeply emotional, while at times, funny and heartwarming, as well as spicy and so so hot, I have no idea, but here it is!

This is a standalone, but with the teaser of what’s to come in the next book, following one of Phoenix’s sisters, I cannot wait to read it!!
